Our client, an established Waste Management concern is search of a Project Coordinator

Who will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders across the sector, by providing advice and direction, working across the sectors with internal departments as well as clients (private, public and NGOs). Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Projects

One will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities that is willing to play a crucial role in managing the company’s Infrastructure funding and Collection & Recycling funding partnerships

Key Tasks:

  • Project management (formulation & achieving deliverable).
  • Finance management (budgeting and fund raising).
  • Stakeholder engagement (existing funded partners, seeking new partners).
  • Lead PEC (Project Evaluation Committee) reporting, preparing, facilitating, & meeting feedback including presenting projects for funding (data capture, writing and presenting), submitting correct reporting for all board meetings.
  • Actively participate in stakeholder working groups, ensuring alignment and effective communication across all parties.


Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Project Funding:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects / Executive Stakeholders & Projects, implement the infrastructure project funding model, the recycling incentive funding model and the collection incentive funding model - a collaborative approach to identifying project partners and targets as stipulated in the EPR regulations.

Measurement: (Funding projects)

(a)Capex (Loans & Grants) Funding spent vs Budgeted target & pipeline projects.

(b)Recycling Service Fee Funding spent vs Budgeted target & pipeline projects.

(c)Collection Service Fee Funding spent vs Budgeted target & pipeline projects.

Industry engagement to identify all role players and build an interactive waste mapping site.

  • Monitor performance and maintain relationships with existing Company funded projects.
  • Facilitate value chain progression projects for SMME entrepreneurs.
  • Provide support to the collection and recycling industry with regards to assisting with developing funding proposal submissions to the business.
  • Conduct screening, summarizing and evaluation of new project proposals to submit recommendations for funding to the Project Evaluation Committee.
  • Conduct site visits to determine feasibility or acquire further information for short-listed project evaluations.
  • Prepare funding support proposal presentations for sign off by the evaluation committee, for presentation to the Board.
  • Develop a network of existing operational collectors and recyclers in South Africa. Focus on the coastal areas.
  • Establish all the operational requirements required to implement the future EPR funding schemes.
  • Work closely with the Executive Stakeholders & Projects and CFO to ensure sound financial management and operating within agreed budgets.
  • Ensure compliance to manage the company’s funded assets as per the contract.

Legal:

  • Manage contract signing with each funded project partner.
  • Manage any performance management related matter with project partners.
  • Manage any breach situation with lawyers.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance to the signed Funding Contracts.
  • Monitor volume reports to track performance of project partners against targets.
  • Visit sites to check on physical appearance and state of the funded assets.
  • Initiate intervention to address non-performance.

Reporting:

The following reports must be compiled and presented to the Senior Manager Projects / Executive Stakeholders & Projects:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience needed:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business/Marketing/Project Management/Environmental/Waste Management or equivalent qualification required
  • 3-Years experience in project management within a similar role preferably within the Waste Management and/or Recycling industry
  • Solid experience in drafting contracts and strong drafting (contractual and opinion writing)
  • Knowledge of commercial agreements -essential
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
