DevOps Team Lead
The DevOps Team Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s CI/CD pipelines, shared services platforms, container orchestration environments, and infrastructure automation strategy.
This role bridges traditional IT infrastructure, cloud-native engineering, network automation (NetDevOps), and security engineering (DevSecOps), ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient platform services that align with business and operational requirements.
The successful candidate will lead DevOps initiatives while collaborating closely with Infrastructure, Networking, Cybersecurity, and Application teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1. DevOps Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and own the DevOps roadmap aligned to IT strategy.
- Lead and mentor DevOps engineers, juniors, and interns.
- Establish DevOps standards, governance, and best practices.
- Drive automation-first principles across infrastructure and deployments.
2. CI/CD & Platform Engineering
- Design, implement, and Improve CI/CD pipelines
- Manage shared services platforms including:
- Container registries
- Artifact repositories
- Secrets management
- Message queuing systems
3. Linux sysadmin
- Preparation and operation of services in production.
- Analysis logging
- Creating and implementing fault tolerance policies and procedures
- Disaster recovery
- Deep understanding of processes, devices, disk partitions, file systems, namespace, and cgroups
- Basic bash/python scripting
4.Docker
- Ability to write your own dockerfiles based on best practices (layer order, caches, multi-stage builds, etc.)
- Best security practices for docker and containerized workloads
5. Kubernetes & Container Platforms
- Understand, able to work and debug the main objects: Pod, Deployment, Replicaset, Jobs/Cron Jobs, DaemonSet, Statefulset
- Understanding of service types and what ingress is
- Work with ConfigMaps, Secrets, sealed secrets, and external secrets.
- Cluster autoscaling strategies for cost optimization
- Apply advanced pod scheduling techniques
- Pod/Namespace resource management
- Understand and configure RBAC and Network Policies
- Implement Service Mesh where needed
- Deep understanding of the underlying Kubernetes architecture
6. Helm
- Ability to write your own charts. Where necessary to use loops, conditions, functions to improve readability and code cleanliness
- Write Umbrella charts if needed
- Customize/patch public charts
- Experience with tools like helm-diff and helmfile
7. Kustomize
- Understanding of Kustomize architecture and overlays
- GitOps integration using Kustomize using FluxCD
- Reusable component structuring
8. Observability
- Experience with popular monitoring tools LGTM, Signoz, etc.
- Knowledge on how to make custom dashboards for Grafana
9. NetDevOps (Network Automation)
- Automate network provisioning and configuration management.
- Integrate CI/CD workflows with firewall and networking changes.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code for networking components.
- Work closely with firewalling, connectivity, and SD-WAN environments.
10. DevSecOps Integration
- Embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement container image scanning (e.g., Trivy, Cosign).
- Manage secrets lifecycle (SOPS).
- Enforce patch compliance and vulnerability management.
- Ensure auditability and compliance alignment (e.g., ISO 27001).
11. Systems & Infrastructure Management
- Administer Linux-based VMs hosting shared services.
- Manage configuration management tools (Ansible).
- Ensure monitoring, logging, and observability maturity.
- Oversee artifact version control and lifecycle governance.

- Experience embedding security into pipelines (DevSecOps)
Qualifications
- Relevant IT Degree or Diploma
- Kubernetes certification (CKA/CKAD) – preferred
- Security certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP – advantageous)
- Networking certification (e.g., CCNP – advantageous)
