CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
|
|
To provide strategic, intellectual, and operational leadership to the Centre, advancing critical scholarship, engagement, and transformative practice in alignment with the University’s Vision 2030. The Director will position the Centre as a leading site of interdisciplinary research, public engagement, and advocacy that responds to pressing societal challenges in community, adult, worker and vocational education.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Centre’s research, engagement, and advocacy agenda.
- Conceptualise and implement a coherent programme of work aligned with institutional priorities and societal needs.
- Advance interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships locally, nationally, and globally.
- Lead the development and execution of flagship and signature projects.
- Strengthen the Centre’s contribution to transformation, social justice, and inclusive knowledge production.
- Drive fundraising initiatives and secure external funding to support the Centre’s sustainability and growth.
- Ensure effective governance and management of the Centre, including financial, human resource, and operational oversight.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on programme impact using appropriate frameworks and systems.
- Promote the Centre’s visibility, intellectual leadership, and public profile.

- Demonstrated intellectual leadership and depth in a relevant field of scholarship.
- Strong understanding of critical theory, social justice, and/or engagement paradigms within higher education.
- Excellent communication, networking, and partnership-building capabilities.

- Strategic thinking and change management expertise.
- Experience in policy development, implementation, and institutional positioning.
- Fundraising and project management capability.

REQUIREMENTS
|
- A relevant doctoral degree.
- An established research and publication record.
- At least 8 –10 years’ experience in higher education or a related sector.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in programme development, stakeholder engagement, and institutional leadership.
