Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Location: Johannesburg-Onsite
Duration: Contract Full Time
Scope of Services:
The request is for an experienced Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Investment Accounting, Fund Administration, and Performance Measurement.
The resource will operate across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), working closely with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to deliver end-to-end business and technology solutions.
The Business Analyst will be responsible for bridging business and technology by translating complex operational requirements into scalable, high-quality solutions, while ensuring alignment to regulatory, operational, and data integrity requirements across custody and investment administration environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Requirements Elicitation & Management
Elicit, analyse, and document detailed business requirements in collaboration with SMEs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment to business objectives and operational processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation
Lead workshops and engagements across business, operations, and technology teams to validate requirements, refine scope, and ensure shared understanding.
- Reverse Engineering & Requirements Refinement
Analyse existing systems, documentation, and processes to identify gaps and refine requirements aligned to target-state process flows.
- Review vendor solutions and specifications to ensure alignment with business requirements, identifying risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Technical Alignment & Traceability
Maintain end-to-end traceability of requirements across design, development, testing, and implementation phases of the SDLC
- Process Analysis & Optimisation
Define current and future state process flows, driving operational efficiency, scalability, and regulatory compliance
- SDLC Delivery & Quality Assurance Support
Support all SDLC phases including solution design, SIT/UAT, defect resolution, and implementation.
- Governance & Controls
Ensure all requirements artefacts meet governance, audit, and quality standards, including traceability matrices and compliance alignment.
- API testing exposure (Postman / Swagger-based testing)
Required Skills & Tools (Must-Have):
- Strong Business Analysis experience (10+ years preferred) within financial services
- Proven SDLC experience (Agile and/or Hybrid delivery models)
- Strong stakeholder and facilitation skills
- Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence or equivalent)
- Strong analytical and documentation capabilities
Domain Knowledge (Mandatory / Highly Preferred):
- Investment Accounting (books of record, accrals, NAV processing)
- Fund Administration and portfolio valuation processes
- Reconciliations and accounting controls
- Custody, accounting, and performance system dependencies
- Regulatory and client reporting
Additional Desirable Experience:
- Investment platforms (e.g., Geneva, HiPortfolio, SimCorp, Eagle, FIS
- Performance measurement and attribution
- Compliance and regulatory reporting
- Institutional asset management (pension funds, unit trusts)
