CORE PURPOSE OF JOB


To support strategic resource mobilisation for Nelson Mandela University’s transversal priorities by coordinating efforts for prospecting, identifying, engaging and follow up of resource mobilisation and
advancement activities. To provide research, support, and planning for the Vice-Chancellor and leadership of the University, to inform and drive international resource mobilisation initiatives and special
campaigns. To cultivate the value chain for the commercialisation strategy of the University as one of the pillars of resource mobilisation.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS


Desirable additional education, work experience and personal qualities:
1. Experience in full cycle resource mobilisation, from cultivation, to retention and stewardship
of funder relationships.
2. Effective networking, nationally and internationally, to advance partnerships and
stakeholder management on behalf of the University.
3. Research, conceptualise and prepare compelling resource mobilisation proposals and
applications.
4. To provide support and direction for the commercialisation strategy of the University.
5. To work cooperatively with the commercialisation vehicles of the University to drive the
commercialisation value chain that will contribute to long term financial sustainability of
the University.
6. Interface across university portfolios and deepen internal resource mobilisation capacity.
7. Ability to articulate the University’s vision, mission and value proposition to funders and
stakeholders.
8.Good understanding of transformation imperatives of the higher education sector.
9. To provide direction to the project office for resource mobilisation.

REQUIREMENTS


M+4 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Commerce, Business Administration, Business development etc.) and 6-10
or more years’ working experience in higher education or a similar environment, including at least 5 years in a
management role. In addition to the above requirements, candidates who possess the specifications below will have an added advantage:
