Role Purpose

The Project Lead is responsible for field execution, quality control, and end-to-end delivery of all maintenance, repair (R&M), and new development projects within assigned business units.

This role ensures that all contractor work is executed strictly in line with approved scopes of work, engineering standards, and operational requirements through hands-on site inspections, scheduled audits, and real-time issue resolution.

The Project Lead takes full ownership of new projects from council/wayleave approval (“X mark the spot”) through to final structure installation and flighting, ensuring delivery is on time, within scope, and compliant.

Coverage: Gauteng & Inland Provinces

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Execution & Site Inspections (Core Accountability)

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly site visits in line with the approved R&M (Repairs & Maintenance) Plan
  • Verify that contractors are executing work:
    • According to approved scope of work
    • In line with quality and safety standards
    • Within agreed timelines
  • Perform scheduled inspections and random audits across all sites
  • Identify and immediately address:
    • Poor workmanship
    • Scope deviations
    • Delays or non-performance
  • Provide on-site direction and corrective actions to contractors

2. Maintenance & Repairs Oversight

  • Execute the R&M plan across all allocated business units
  • Ensure all assets are maintained to operational and visual standards
  • Validate completion of maintenance jobs before sign-off
  • Escalate recurring issues and propose long-term fixes and improvements
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is performed to reduce reactive work

3. New Project Execution (End-to-End Ownership)

  • Take full accountability for new developments from approval to completion, including:
    • Exact position as per approved counsel packs (X mark the spot)
    • Site verification and readiness
    • Contractor appointment and briefing
    • Installation supervision
    • Final inspection and quality sign-off
    • Handover for flighting (go-live)
  • Ensure all projects are delivered:
    • On time
    • Within scope
    • Within approved budgets
  • Proactively resolve site-related risks and delays

4. Contractor Management

  • Act as the primary field contact for all contractors
  • Ensure contractors:
    • Understand scope and expectations
    • Deliver work to required standards
    • Meet deadlines and SLAs
  • Monitor contractor performance and provide feedback to management
  • Enforce accountability and compliance on-site

5. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure 100% alignment between executed work and approved scope
  • Validate all installations and repairs meet:
    • Structural standards
    • Safety requirements
    • Brand and visual standards
  • Ensure all work complies with:
    • Company SOPs
    • Regulatory and municipal requirements
  • Maintain audit-ready field records and inspection feedback

6. Reporting & Feedback

  • Provide structured, real-time feedback to the Projects Coordinator and management
  • Report on:
    • Site visit outcomes
    • Project progress
    • Risks and delays
    • Contractor performance
  • Supply verified site updates and visuals to support OT3 and Live Tracking accuracy
  • Participate in operational and project review meetings

7. Operational Alignment

  • Work closely with the Projects Coordinator to ensure:
    • Accurate job tracking on OT3
    • Alignment between field execution and system updates
  • Support continuous improvement of:
    • R&M planning
    • Project execution frameworks
    • Field processes

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Project Management, or related field (preferred)
  • 3–6 years’ experience in:
    • Site supervision
    • Field project execution
    • Maintenance or infrastructure environments
  • Experience in OOH (Out-of-Home), construction, or media infrastructure highly advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license

Additional Requirements

  • Own reliable vehicle (mandatory)
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Gauteng & Inland regions
  • Willing to stay overnight / be away from home when required
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on project and site requirements
