Job Description

The Senior Project Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of complex projects within the banking and finance sector. This role requires effective coordination of project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and quality standards. The successful candidate manages communication between stakeholders, facilitates project meetings, tracks progress, and escalates risks and issues as appropriate. The position demands strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor project activities to ensure timely delivery of milestones and objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders and external vendors to maintain alignment and transparency.
  • Prepare, maintain and distribute project documentation including plans, status reports, risk registers and issue logs.
  • Schedule and organise project meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes and tracking action items.
  • Identify, assess and escalate project risks and issues to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Support budget tracking and resource allocation in conjunction with project managers and finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, industry regulations and governance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of project presentations and progress updates to senior management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within project management practises.

Required Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Formal project management training or certification (such as PRINCE2 Foundation) is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience supporting or coordinating projects within the banking and finance sector.
  • Proven track record of working on complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Experience in managing project documentation, schedules and communications.
  • Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance requirements.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practises.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management certification at practitioner level (such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent).
  • Experience working within agile project environments.
  • Knowledge of financial products, services and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and tools.

Working Conditions

This role is primarily office based, with the expectation to work full-time hours. The post-holder may occasionally be required to attend meetings at different locations or participate in out-of-hours activities to meet project deadlines. The position demands the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
