Main Purpose of the Position

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of efficient and effective financial support services across the region, ensuring full compliance with legislation, company policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regional Compliance with Financial Policies

  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly forecasts promptly to enable proactive management of potential risks.
  • Control expenditure within approved limits by enforcing strict adherence to budgetary procedures.
  • Oversee all financial controls within the region, ensuring alignment with company and group guidelines.

2. Accounting and Administrative Compliance

  • Process decentralised accounting transactions promptly and accurately using the IZI finance system, maintaining comprehensive records supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Monitor the regional revenue position and implement effective credit control measures to optimise cash flow.
  • Supervise and review regional balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage regional costs, purchase orders, business expenses, and overall expenditure, ensuring all spending remains within budget.

3. Cost Allocation and Expenditure Authorisation

  • Ensure precise allocation of costs against budgets.
  • Verify that all expenditure is supported by valid documentation and authorised at appropriate levels.
  • Review regional revenue reconciliations and analyse labour costs and earnings.
  • Evaluate monthly accounts by comparing actual performance against budget, identifying trends and variances, and delivering accurate management information to the Regional Operations Director.

4. Monthly Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive trade review packs and monthly forecasts promptly to support proactive management decisions.
  • Analyse monthly accounts, assess performance against budget, identify trends and variances, and provide detailed management reports to the Regional Operations Director and Head Office.
  • Submit all required reports relating to the region’s financial position, including overtime, costs, cash flow, and revenue.
  • Review, process, and manage allocation of costs, journals, and transactions for the region.

5. Health and Safety

  • Contribute to the annual design, review, implementation, and monitoring of departmental safety plans.
  • Participate actively in company safety forums, including meetings and presentations.
  • Report all safety incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Discuss safety incidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Follow up on actions assigned through safety meetings, committees, representatives, or management.
  • Attend safety training and refresher programmes as required.
  • Comply fully with workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Distribute safety information as necessary.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Matriculation / Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of five years’ practical, hands-on experience in financial or business operations is required.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Finance or Accounting would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial and cost control is imperative.
