Role Overview
As a Tactical Support Unit Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding company premises and assets, ensuring full adherence to company policies and procedures at all times. This role requires vigilance, professionalism and the ability to respond effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor driver and crew compliance with company procedures during operations.
- Report faulty or defective equipment promptly.
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with the Control Room and armoured vehicles.
- Accurately complete the daily road check inspection checklist.
- Immediately report any breaches or non-compliance with operational procedures to the Supervisor.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all on-road operational policies.
- Escort bulk banking and other armoured vehicles in designated high-risk areas.
- Protect armoured vehicles during breakdowns or following security incidents.
- Notify the National Control Centre (NCC) and Joint Operations Centre (JOC) Controller of potential robbery threats based on intelligence, ensuring relevant authorities are informed.
- Provide immediate assistance during incidents, responding swiftly to stabilise situations.
- Support emergency services on-site and provide timely updates to the Control Room.
- When making an arrest in the absence of police, apply minimum force and strictly follow arrest procedures as per the Criminal Procedure Act.
- Use protection methods appropriate to the threat level without disrupting operations or endangering lives.
- Share sensitive information solely on a “need to know” basis.
- Defend against attacks within the bounds of the law.
- Report all safety incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel and discuss them at all organisational levels.
- Follow up on actions assigned through safety meetings, committees, representatives or management.
- Attend safety training and refresher courses as required.
- Comply fully with all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Distribute safety information as necessary.
- Wear protective clothing at all times while on duty.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
- PSIRA Grade C certification.
- Valid and current Regulation 21 certification.
- Cash-in-Transit certification.
- Armed Response certification.
- Valid driving licence.
- Business Firearm Competency certification for handgun and rifle use.
- Medical fitness certificate authorising firearm use.
- Clear credit and criminal record.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in Cash-in-Transit or Armed Response operations.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage time efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse individuals and teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in using technology and digital tools.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity and work ethic.
