The Regional Group Solutions Specialist is a senior technical and business development role responsible for positioning the organisation as the preferred provider of Group Solutions services within the financial services sector. The incumbent will serve as the subject matter expert across the Group Solutions product suite, including employee benefits, beneficiary care, pension funds, fiduciary services, trusts, and related advisory solutions.

The role supports Broker Consultants and intermediary channels by providing specialist technical expertise, solution design, client engagement support, and strategic business development. The incumbent will actively drive growth through Group Solutions channels and platforms by identifying opportunities, supporting retention strategies, and delivering value-added solutions to clients, intermediaries, employers, trustees, and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Group Solutions professional with strong technical expertise in employee benefits, pension funds, fiduciary services, and beneficiary funds and trusts. They possess a strong commercial mindset, thrive in relationship-driven environments, and are recognised as a trusted advisor within the financial services industry. This individual combines strategic business development capability with deep technical knowledge to support growth across intermediary and Group Solutions channels.

Key Responsibilities

Group Solutions Expert

  • Act as the regional technical expert on all Group Solutions products and services.
  • Provide specialist support and guidance to Broker Consultants, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product training, and solution workshops to brokers, clients, and business partners.
  • Interpret and communicate complex retirement fund, fiduciary, and employee benefits legislation and market developments.
  • Support the design and structuring of customised employee benefits and fiduciary solutions.
  • Ensure that all advice, recommendations, and solutions comply with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Drive new business acquisition across Group Solutions channels and intermediary networks.
  • Identify and develop opportunities within retirement funds, group risk, beneficiary funds, trusts, and pension administration markets.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, consultants, trustees, employers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Support retention and cross-selling initiatives within existing client portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Broker Consultants on strategic sales opportunities and client engagements.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, networking forums, and client engagements to enhance market presence and business growth.
  • Contribute to regional sales strategies and achievement of revenue and growth targets.

Broker & Intermediary Support

  • Provide technical support during complex sales processes and client consultations.
  • Assist Broker Consultants in preparing proposals, presentations, and solution recommendations.
  • Accompany Broker Consultants to client meetings where specialist expertise is required.
  • Support intermediaries with legislative updates, product positioning, and industry insights.
  • Build credibility and trust as the organisation’s Group Solutions specialist within the market.

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients and intermediaries.
  • Engage with trustees, employers, and member representatives on retirement and fiduciary matters.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Resolve complex client queries and provide strategic recommendations where necessary.
  • Monitor market trends and client needs to identify future opportunities and risks.

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with FAIS, Pension Funds Act, FICA, POPIA, and other applicable legislation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and legislative developments impacting Group Solutions.
  • Support governance and best-practice standards within all Group Solutions engagements.
  • Ensure all activities align with the organisation’s risk and compliance framework.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Investments, Commerce, Law, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Professional industry qualifications such as:
    • CFP®
    • FAIS Regulatory Examination (RE5)
    • Trustee training certifications
    • Employee Benefits or Pension Fund qualifications
    • Fiduciary or Trust-related certifications

Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
  • Significant experience within:
    • Employee Benefits
    • Pension Fund Administration
    • Group Risk
    • Beneficiary Funds
    • Fiduciary Services and Trusts
    • Retirement Funds
  • Proven experience supporting intermediary or broker distribution channels
  • Strong understanding of retirement fund structures, legislation, and fiduciary principles
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within financial services
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and technical advisory skills
