Junior AC & Refrigeration Technician
Newlands, Cape Town
As our Junior AC & Refrigeration Technician, you will join our Maintenance team. You are a motivated, hands-on individual seeking to advance your career in HVAC and refrigeration within a hotel environment. You will support the team in maintaining and repairing air-conditioning and refrigeration systems to ensure guest comfort and smooth hotel operations.
Assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, you will support the team in troubleshooting basic faults and carrying out repairs under supervision. Performing routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and coils, and checking system performance, as well as helping service refrigeration units, cold rooms, and freezer systems, will form part of your duties.
Aside from the above, you will assist with inspections of equipment, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and fans, and respond to maintenance requests in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
Part of your role will be to maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks, follow all health, safety, and environmental standards at all times, and provide general maintenance support to the team when required.
Along with your Matric (Grade 12) Certification, you have a Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related technical field (or currently studying towards one) with up to 2 years’ experience (practical training, apprenticeships, or internships will be considered).
You have a basic understanding of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, a valid driver’s license and a willingness to work shifts and learn on the job.
You bring a willingness to learn and develop your technical skills, paired with a keen eye for detail and a hands-on approach. Your basic problem-solving ability, good communication, and teamwork skills ensure you thrive in collaborative settings.
With the ability to follow instructions and adapt to a fast-paced environment, you will help maintain efficiency and quality across all tasks.
