We are looking fora Senior Backend Test Analyst with strong experience in data validation, system integration testing, and complex financial systems.

This role is suited to someone who:

  • Enjoys working behind the scenes (not UI-heavy)
  • Has strong SQL and data testing capability
  • Can test end-to-end business processes across multiple systems
  • Has exposure to legacy/mainframe-type environments or structured enterprise systems

Requirements

  • Is very strong in data testing (Excel + SQL)
  • Has worked on financial/admin systems (Old Mutual-type environment)
  • Can analyse requirements + test deeply (not just execute scripts)
  • Has end-to-end system thinking (integration focus)
  • Is comfortable in structured + complex environments

👉 Mainframe is a bonus, but data/backend testing is the core

🔹 Key Responsibilities

Backend & Data Testing

  • Design and execute test cases for backend systems
  • Perform data validation using SQL and Excel-based tools
  • Verify data integrity across multiple systems
  • Analyse data flows, transformations, and outputs

Integration & System Testing

  • Test system integrations and end-to-end processes
  • Validate interfaces between legacy and modern systems
  • Perform regression and impact analysis

Test Analysis

  • Analyse business and system requirements
  • Translate requirements into test scenarios and cases
  • Ensure traceability between requirements and testing

Defect Management

  • Log and track defects using tools like Jira / QC
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Retest fixes and validate system stability

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with developers, BAs, and business users
  • Support UAT and implementation phases
  • Provide clear feedback on risks and issues

Required Experience

  • 5–10+ years as a Test Analyst / QA
  • Strong backend / data testing experience
  • Experience in financial services (highly preferred)

Technical Skills (VERY IMPORTANT for screening)

  • SQL (non-negotiable)
  • Strong Excel (data validation, recon tools)
  • Experience with:
    • Data testing
    • Integration testing
    • End-to-end testing

Tools

  • Jira / HP QC / Zephyr / Xray
  • Postman / Insomnia (API testing – nice to have)

Legacy / Enterprise Exposure

  • Experience working on:
    • Large enterprise systems
    • Admin / policy / investment platforms

👉 Exposure to mainframe / COBOL / DB2 = advantage, not must
