FINANCE MANAGER – Kyalami (Jhb)

Leading Energy Group is seeking a strategic and operational Finance Manager to lead the finance function across all entities.

You are a finance leader who is honest, energetic, intelligent, innovate and entrepreneurial in nature with the drive to make both a strategic and operational impact across the business.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies to support business objectives.
  • Prepare and manage the company’s annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and advise on financial performance improvement.

2. Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring reconciliations and audits are completed accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns.
  • Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and financial reporting systems.

3. Procurement & Stores Management:

  • Oversee procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while meeting quality and timeline requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms in line with financial objectives.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate stores management to support project needs and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Implement and monitor policies for inventory control, stock levels, and asset management.

4. Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Accuracy:

  • Ensure accuracy in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) process by overseeing and verifying quantities, costs, and materials to prevent discrepancies.
  • Ensure that the BOQ is always up to date with current market prices or agreed supplier pricing for specified time periods.
  • Collaborate with project and procurement teams to align BOQ with project budgets and timelines.
  • Establish and enforce quality checks in the BOQ process to enhance financial forecasting and cost control.

5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the company has adequate liquidity to meet operational needs.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collections and payments (both internal and external).
  • Optimize working capital and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and financial institutions.

6. Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and legal regulations, including audits and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial governance processes.
  • Ensure collaboration with internal stakeholders with regards Tax and Insurance to reduce costs with mitigating risks.

7. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of finance personnel.
  • Collaborate with other department heads, such as project management, procurement, and operations, to support cross-functional objectives.
  • Ensure 1-on-1 discussions are followed by rigorous utilisation of the team’s skills to achieve set outcomes.
  • Manage team performance according to set KPI’s.

8. Vendor & Contract Management:

  • Oversee financial aspects of vendor and subcontractor agreements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments while managing favourable contract terms and cost control.
  • Ensure effective cost, supply, and SLA agreements are in place with all suppliers. This includes materials, services, labour, hardware.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience required

  • CA(SA) / CIMA or related qualification
  • Minimum 3-4 years post-articles experience, including at least 2 years in a senior financial leadership role gained within the manufacturing / engineering / renewable energy or related industry
  • Proven track record in leading a small Finance team as well as end-to-end finance functions, including accounting, reporting, treasury, budgeting, and funding operations across manufacturing, engineering, construction and operational businesses
  • Experience in multi-currency (Pula, NAD, USD), cross-border and asset-based operations
  • Proven experience in ensuring accurate financial and operational reporting using Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Dynamics 365 Business Central, with a focus on automation, transparency, and clarity.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement structured procurement, deployment, and system maintenance processes to enforce stricter controls and improve operational governance.
  • Skilled at streamlining workflows to ensure systems deliver reliable, auditable, and real-time information for decision-making.
