Job Title

Design Engineer

Location

Woodmead

Primary Purpose (Role)

To produce fit-for-purpose designs and drawings in accordance with discipline engineers’ requirements, adhering to specified quality standards and timeframes.

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities)

Technical Expertise

  • Modify drawings to meet client, engineer, and project requirements.
  • Utilise relevant software and workflows effectively, including AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Navisworks, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD.
  • Adhere strictly to drawing office standards and procedures.
  • Manage Autodesk Vault procedures and drawing properties accurately.
  • Prepare appropriate drawings such as Single Line Diagrams, General Arrangements, Schematics, Block Plans, Layouts, Block Diagrams, Connection Diagrams, Hook-Up Diagrams, Line Profiles, and Symbols.

Time Management

  • Manage and review drawings within the allocated man-hour budget.
  • Produce drawings efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Ensure timely delivery of drawings in line with the project schedule.
  • Report promptly on any drawing budget overruns.

Quality Management

  • Ensure drawings meet high-quality standards by using the software correctly.
  • Produce accurate drawings that comply with the client, the drawing office, and relevant standards and codes.
  • Follow drawing office quality assurance procedures diligently.
  • Self-check drawings thoroughly to minimise errors.

Communications

  • Interpret instructions from design engineers and Drawing Office Management accurately.
  • Liaise and coordinate with engineers and project design teams to ensure compliance with project and client requirements and schedules.
  • Identify and communicate changes promptly to engineers and/or Drawing Office Management.
  • Ensure effective handover of drawings and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate in a respectful, professional, and inclusive manner.

Experience

  • Essential:
    • 4–6 years’ related experience in ECI Drawings using AutoCAD
    • 2+ years’ experience with Inventor
  • Advantageous:
    • 2+ years’ experience with 3D Racking using AutoCAD or Revit
    • 2+ years’ experience with Eplan
    • 2+ years’ experience with MicroStation

Knowledge Areas

  • Essential:
    • Experience working within an EPCM/Mining environment
    • Knowledge of Drawing Office procedures and functions
  • Advantageous:
    • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 standards
    • Sound technical knowledge within a multi-disciplinary environment
