Assistant Conferencing & Events Manager Newlands, Cape Town As the Assistant Conference & Events Manager, you will take a hands-on leadership role, managing the day-to-day conference and event operations with a presence on the floor. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing event execution from set-up to breakdown, leading and training staff, and managing departmental financial controls such as event profitability and billing. You will translate bookings into operational plans, carry out site inspections, and maintain a strong client presence to ensure service excellence. This position requires you to lead, train, and motivate a team of permanent and casual staff, managing everything from recruitment to performance and development. To be considered, you'll need a Matric Certificate or equivalent, a relevant degree (such as Hospitality/Events Management), and at least 3 years’ leadership experience in a high-volume hotel or events environment. We're looking for someone with strong leadership skills in hospitality, events, and operations, proven experience managing live events, supervising service teams, and using Opera. You have a solid understanding of financial and labour costs with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Your excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive management style will see you far in this role. You must have your own transport and be flexible to work extended, irregular hours.
