Quantity Surveyor / Site Manager

Our client who is in the Construction Project & Financial Management industry is currently looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to be based in the Western Cape, Northern Suburbs area.

Position: Junior Quantity Surveyor 

The successful candidate must have:

  1. Matric with a B.Tech or B.Sc degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar qualification
  2. Minimum of 1-3 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  3. Excellent computer literacy – (Excel, Word, Outlook, Projects)
  4. Experience in CCS will be an advantage.
  5. Familiar with relevant contracts and standards such as, JBCC 2000 Series, GCC (General Conditions of Contract),
  6. Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  7. Must have outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
  8. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  9. Must have own transport.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare elemental cost estimates based on the architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labour involved.
  2. Prepare tender and contractual documents, including bills of quantities.
  3. Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate, negotiate with the contractors.
  4. Management of Contract Instructions & Variation orders during Construction Phase
  5. Management of Fortnightly & Monthly Valuation & Payment Certificates during Construction Phase
  6. Monitor and track project progress. They are responsible for measuring and valuing variations in the work during the contract, arranging interim payments, and finalizing the account.
  7. Site visits and liaise with site managers and contractors / sub-contractors.
  8. Measurement of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  9. Work as part of a team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered.
  10. Manage and produce accurate formal reports, and follow procedures and instructions in accordance with the business.
  11. Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are in place, understood and always followed.
  12. Produce accurate measuring, data transfers, formulations, and calculations
  13. Work in a well-timed manner not to hold up the adjacent teams and project progress
  14. General administration
  15. Well-developed English & Afrikaans language skills (speak, read and write)

Package & Remuneration

R20 000 - R30 000 negotiable dependant on experience
