Main Purpose of Position

 

This role is accountable for safeguarding G4S vehicles and assets during operational deployment, delivering Cash in Transit (CIT) services for a variety of clients, and ensuring strict adherence to company policies, driver operating procedures, and directives.

Maintain company security standards by adhering to all vehicle and equipment procedures

  • Receive and sign for the vehicle and equipment, ensuring all are in proper working order; promptly report any defects to management.

  • Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection prior to departure, checking mechanical roadworthiness and systems, and complete the daily driver checklist in accordance with the company's Mandatory Security Principles (MSP).

  • Take full responsibility for all systems, technology, and equipment used during the shift.

  • Inspect the vehicle at the end of duties and report any defects or concerns to the Control Room and management before signing off, allowing sufficient time for maintenance before the next scheduled use.

Drive responsibly and record details of accidents, robberies, or other incidents

  • Comply with all traffic laws as stipulated by the Road Traffic Act.

  • Adhere to G4S Health and Safety standards outlined in the “Zero Tolerance Zero Harm” policy, including the 12 Golden Rules.

  • If safe and feasible, the crew or custodian should photograph the accident scene.

  • Immediately report all incidents to the Control Room, branch, and relevant authorities.

  • Gather as much information as possible regarding other vehicles involved, nature of injuries, and any details that may assist emergency services.

  • Remain inside the vehicle until management arrives and authorises exit.

  • If it is necessary to leave the vehicle, notify the Control Room and obtain approval along with the Occurrence Book (OB) number.

Manage control functions for scheduled trips

  • Conduct standard checks before departure from the branch.

  • Ensure all operational equipment required for the trip (e.g. customer keys, replacement bags, CPDs, radios, scanners) are fully functional prior to departure.

  • Report crew details, route number, call sign, servicing areas, planned trip, mileage, departure time, and estimated return time to the Controller via radio.

  • Adhere to trip scheduling in line with route optimisation best practises; promptly report any deviations to the Control Room for approval.

  • Notify the Control Room immediately if the vehicle becomes immobilised or is at risk of immobilisation for any reason.

  • Comply with company codes and precautions to safeguard crew and cargo.

  • Report any suspicious vehicles, persons, or activities to the Control Room without delay.

  • Follow vehicle operating instructions at all times.

  • Conduct operational security drills, maintaining high levels of security awareness and vigilance.

  • Take preventative action upon detecting any suspicious behaviour.

  • Complete collection schedules and submit them to Radio Controllers by shift end.

  • Ensure the vehicle is refuelled and ready for the next shift.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle to uphold the company’s professional image.

  • Ensure all communication complies with driver operating procedures.

  • Promote a culture of “Safety First”.

  • Comply with all company Health and Safety procedures, extending beyond vehicle safety.

  • Avoid exposing yourself, the vehicle, assets, or crew to any risks.

  • Ensure the safety of the public and customers at all times.

  • Participate actively in safety forums at branch level.

  • Report all safety incidents promptly to the Control Room and obtain an OB number.

  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes regularly.

  • Adhere strictly to all workplace safety policies and procedures.

  • Wear protective clothing, including bulletproof vests, at all times during duties, including in secure environments.

  • Follow all reasonable instructions issued by branch management.
