MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Production Oversight

  • Manage daily operations across the Feed mill to ensure production targets, efficiency, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of production activities to align with priorities and output requirements.
  • Coordinate the effective utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials to meet production goals.
  • Stand in for Production Shift Coordinators in their absence.

 Process Management

  • Supervise the execution of the production process, ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Implement and maintain operational controls to ensure Right, First Time production.
  • Work closely with Process Engineer on process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate incident/customer complaint investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the production team to enhance skills, ensure adherence to procedures, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Schedule and monitor employee shifts, leave, and overtime while maintaining optimal staffing levels.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards and ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) exercises and ensure a proactive approach to safety management.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Ensure accurate production data capture.
  • Compile production reports.

Sustainability and Waste Reduction

  • Advise on and implement waste reduction strategies across raw material input, production processes, and output stages.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives by assessing and enhancing process relevance and equipment adequacy.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL QUALITIES/SKILLS

  • Grade 12 (Matric), National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Production/Operations Management. B.Tech an added advantage.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 2 years at a supervisory capacity. Must have good computer skills, knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be fluent in English. Knowledge of People Management, Analytical thinker with Good Problem- solving skills. Strong attention to detail, ability to organise and work well under pressure.
