To support its growth, Orano Mining launches a new subsidiary for exploration in Botswana. With a focus on greenfield exploration in a remote area located between Kang and Ghanzi in western Botswana. The project is in a start-up phase, involving the progressive establishment of local operations, offices and logistics capabilities.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

The Logistics and Purchasing Officer will play a key role in supporting this ramp-up by helping to identify and onboard local service providers, coordinate field logistics, and ensure smooth interfaces between Gaborone office and field operations.

  • During this initial phase, the Logistics & Purchasing officer will be involved in supporting the physical set-up of Orano’s local entity in Gaborone (office move-in, basic services, and first facilities).
  • Responsible to source, purchase, transport and deliver goods and services in a cost-effective, timely and compliant manner.
  • This position will be a key interface between the Gaborone office, field teams, local suppliers/service providers and other Orano entities involved in the project
  • Responsible to manage the flow of goods from procurement to delivery, including storage and inventory.
  • The position is primarily office-based in Gaborone, with regular coordination with field teams operating in western Botswana (Kang–Ghanzi area). Occasional trips to operational sites may be required depending on project needs.

SKILLS

  • Good knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency in procurement and logistics software, ERP systems, Excel
  • Knowledge of international freight processes and customs procedures
  • Familiarity with UN packaging standards would be an asset
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, Analytical thinking

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in procurement, business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement roles.
  • Experience in supporting the establishment of new operations or offices in-country is a strong advantage.
