Position Overview: People Business Partner

We are currently seeking a People Business Partner for Western Cape, KZN & Bushcats/Johannesburg with strong operations experience to join our team. This is a high-impact role that combines strategic HR business partnering with operational leadership. As a key member of our team, you will play an instrumental role in aligning our people strategies with business goals and providing efficient, compliant, and scalable delivery of HR services.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Business Partnering:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, aligning people strategies with business objectives.
  • Oversee workforce planning, talent development, and change management initiatives.
  • Provide strategic support on succession planning, high-potential talent, and performance management.
  • Coach managers on team effectiveness, employee relations, and leadership capability.
  • Champion a positive work environment by proactively and thoughtfully addressing employee concerns.

People Operations & Admin Management:

  • Lead the operations function for the People team, ensuring excellence in processes such as payroll, benefits, HRIS, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance People policies and procedures to reflect current labour legislation and business needs.
  • Collaborate with the People BU, Finance & Resort Ops team leads to optimise HR systems, tools, and workflows to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and a seamless employee experience.
  • Oversee People reporting and analytics (e.g., headcount, attrition, absenteeism, hiring metrics) to drive data-informed decisions and play a key role in driving cost-saving efficiencies.
  • Work with the People A/ HRIS system administrators to integrate and drive HRIS data input, as well as support efficiencies with data administration and reporting.

Property Rotation:

  • Visit each resort monthly (or as required) at each assigned property to ensure visibility, relationship building, real-time HR support, and alignment to 360hub expectations.
  • Conduct scheduled People-related check-ins, training, and employee engagement initiatives during each property visit.
  • Report key themes, challenges, and opportunities back to the People Tribal Lead after each rotation.

Talent Acquisition & Retention:

  • Collaborate with Accountable Leads and the Talent Acquisition team to understand staffing needs and execute recruitment strategies.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including screening, interviewing, and selection where required.
  • Contribute to employee value proposition and retention initiatives to attract and retain top talent.

Learning & Development:

  • Collaborate with Accountable Leads and training champions to ensure quality and brilliantly executed training and facilitation across the organisation.
  • Oversee the delivery of learning programmes to upskill managers and employees as per the training needs analysis and 9-box matrix to support succession.
  • Support career development and growth pathways within the organisation.

Wellbeing & Engagement:

  • Promote and build a positive work culture through connection and clear communication.
  • Encourage an open and transparent environment.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (post-grad HR qualification or certification preferred and advantageous).
  • Minimum 3-7 years of progressive HR experience, including senior business partnering and operational HR leadership (5-7+ years of experience in HR generalist or business partnering roles, preferably across multi-site environments).
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practises, labour law, and organisational development.
  • Proven success in managing systems, operations, and scalable processes.
  • Experience in resolving complex employee relations cases and advising leadership.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, or other customer-centric industries highly desirable.
  • Strong background in performance management, talent strategy, and leadership coaching.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and HR analytics tools.
