Top Accountabilities
Operational management
- Analyse the production needs
- Complete shift handover with previous shift
- Identify issues and the actions taken and outstanding
- Ensure operator handover at each station
- Engage with operators
- Move people around and take up relied shift foremen duties to avoid production delays
- Identify and plan for potential challenges
- Allocate tasks to individuals
- Co- ordinate general housekeeping of tunnels and conveyors
- Plan and Co- ordinate cleaning of scales, silo scales and saturators
- Oversee resin changes and auto- filter cloth
- Maintain purity levels
- Maintain optimum sugar colours
- Meet planned High-Test Molasses (HTM) target volumes
Safety, health and environment
- Monitors compliance with manufacturing standards, Food Safety and Hygiene regulations and controls, quality assurance procedures and the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Issue pre-inspection checklist forms and follow up on completion
- Maintain ongoing awareness and focus on safety
- Conduct corrective counselling
- Conduct incident investigations and write reports
People engagement, management and development
- Interact, provide and/ or clarifying instructions and work procedures in relation to the Operations and, checks the implementation and/ or execution of responsibilities
- Monitors conduct, performance and implements corrective measures to align behaviours and activities
- Participate in the recruitment process within the Department
- Develop and update the people / training matrix
- Conduct on the job training
- Monitor completion of compliance training
- Resolve individual performance problems as identified
- Take action to improve engagement and employee relations
- Apply the disciplinary process through to initiating and chairing enquiries
- Comply with THS policies and procedures and legislative requirements
- Interact positively with employees in the workplace and build a positive culture with open and constructive communication and teamwork
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Technical qualification. Chemical engineering diploma/degree would be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a role of a shift or dayshift process foreman.
- Proven track record.
- Computer skills/literacy. Proficient in SAP and Microsoft office packages
