Deloitte is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a client engagement for an initial 4 month contract. This role will by Hybrid from Deloitte Offices in Waterfall. 

 

Job Description

We are seeking a high-impact Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our AI & Data consulting practice as a Senior Consultant. This is a technical leadership role focused on the design, deployment, and optimization of scalable cloud infrastructure and services on especially GCP.

You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams of AI engineers, data scientists, and data engineers to build secure, production-ready platforms that power transformative AI and Data solutions for our clients across the African continent.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud architecture & Engineering

•Architect and implement secure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructure on GCP to support data platforms, AI/ML workloads, and cloud-native applications.

•Lead infrastructure design and provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Deployment Manager.

•Enable network design, security hardening, and CI/CD for cloud-native and hybrid environments.

 

GCP expertise

•Design, configure, and optimize core GCP services including:

•Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Functions

•BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run

•Cloud Monitoring, Identity and Access Management (IAM), VPC networking

•Apply best practices for cost optimization, monitoring, observability, and performance tuning across cloud environments.

Consulting & Delivery

•Translate business and functional requirements into robust cloud solutions.

•Collaborate with engagement managers, architects, and technical leads to ensure seamless delivery of cloud infrastructure within time and budget.

•Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and architecture documentation.

DevSecOps & Governance

•Integrate cloud governance frameworks including security controls, audit readiness, and compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).

•Implement DevOps pipelines with GCP-native and third-party tooling for CI/CD and automated testing.

 

Qualifications Required:

•5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles with a strong GCP track record.

•Proven experience designing and deploying production-grade infrastructure using GCP services.

•Strong knowledge of Terraform, Linux administration, and container orchestration (e.g., GKE/Kubernetes).

•Solid experience with CI/CD practices, DevOps tooling, and infrastructure automation.

•Deep understanding of networking, identity, IAM, encryption, and cloud security fundamentals.

•Excellent problem-solving, communication, and consulting skills.

•Ability to operate in a high-performance consulting environment and engage directly with enterprise clients.

 

Advantageous:

•Experience with Azure cloud services or hybrid-cloud implementations.

•Experience supporting data engineering, AI/ML, or analytics platforms on cloud.

•GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
