Job Title: Business Development Manager

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities in the engineering and mining sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Lead the negotiation and closure of business deals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and competitive activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and present reports on business development progress to senior management.

New Business Development

  • Prospect for new leads and/or clients by networking and other means of generating interest from potential clients.
  • Develop persuasive approaches that will encourage potential clients of working with DRA.
  • Develop an ongoing pipeline of new business for the company.
  • Identify, prioritise and develop new leads that make sense for the company.
  • Evaluate leads, motivate Bid/No Bid decisions.
  • Convert leads into opportunities .
  • Evaluate client and opportunity risk and reward profiles
  • Expand the company’s project footprint into the West African market.
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.
  • Assist in closing new business deals by coordinating requirements; assisting/guiding the development and negotiating contracts.
  • Protects DRA's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Client Relationship Building

  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Identify the decision makers and influencers within the client organisation.
  • Maintain and augment existing as well as new client relationships to ensure business opportunities.
  • Networking with other industry professionals.

Business Development Planning

  • Proactive Business Development monthly planning and associated action plans
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on the opportunities, clients market and general trends.
  • Utilising knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop DRA’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Collaborate with the various divisions within the company to ensure alignment on the pipeline and leads prioritised. Also ensure alignment on resource capability and availability.
  • Development of business plans (Key Client Development, New Regions, and Partnerships/Acquisitions).
  • Provide input to the annual business development budget and manage within the budget.

Management and Research

  • Monitoring and analysing business and economic trends.
  • Research market trends with the objective of understanding how these trends influence business Monitor competitor movement.
  • Submit regular progress reports (new leads, prioritisation, progress on exiting leads, leads converted)
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within DRA’s CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in business development within the engineering or mining industry.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development within the engineering or mining industry.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strategic planning and business development expertise.
  • Market research and analysis skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience working in international business environments.
  • Proficiency in a second language.

Working Conditions:

This role will be based in Accra, Ghana. Some travel may be required to meet clients and partners.

The standard working hours are Full-Time, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work during busy periods.

The role may involve attending industry events, conferences, and meetings outside of regular working hours.
