QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL QUALITIES/SKILLS
- Grade 12 (Matric), National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Production/Operations Management. B.Tech an added advantage.
- Minimum experience of 3 years in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 2 years at a supervisory capacity. Must have good computer skills, knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, must be literate in English. Knowledge of people management, Analytical thinker with good problem solving skills, strong attention to detail, ability to organise and work well under pressure.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST INCLUDES, AMONGST OTHERS:
PRODUCTION OVERSIGHT
- Manage daily operations across the Supplementary Feed to ensure production targets, efficiency, and quality standards are achieved.
- Oversee the scheduling and execution of production activities to align with priorities and output requirements.
- Coordinate the effective utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials to meet production goals.
- Stand in for Production Shift Coordinators in their absence.
PROCESS MANAGEMENT
- Supervise the execution of the production process, ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols.
- Implement and maintain operational controls to ensure Right First Time production.
- Work closely with Process Engineer on process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate incident/customer complaint investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the production team to enhance skills, ensure adherence to procedures, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Schedule and monitor employee shifts, leave, and overtime while maintaining optimal staffing levels.
SAFETY & COMPLINACE
- Enforce safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards and ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) exercises and ensure a proactive approach to safety management.
DATA MANAGEMENT & REPORTING
- Ensure accurate production data capture.
- Compile production reports.
SUSTAINABILITY & WASTE REDUCTION
- Advise on and implement waste reduction strategies across raw material input, production processes, and output stages.
- Promote sustainability initiatives by assessing and enhancing process relevance and equipment adequacy.
