Our Client a global tech firm is seeking a Senior Test Analyst join their team in Cape town on a contract basis. They offer stability, growth, attractive rates and a great working environment.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Test Analyst with hands-on testing expertise and proven experience in test execution for fast-paced project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of test strategies, test cases, and test scripts for functional and non-functional testing.
  • Coordinate day-to-day testing activities for a small team of testers (including task assignment and progress tracking).
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and project managers to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing across web, mobile, and backend systems.
  • Identify, log, and manage defects, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with development teams.
  • Ensure proper test coverage and risk-based prioritization of testing activities.
  • Create and maintain test documentation and contribute to test process improvement initiatives.
  • Support automation test efforts by working with automation testers or scripting basic automation where applicable.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior testers or contract resources as needed.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous integration and delivery practices.

Key Capabilities:

  • Technical Competence: Strong understanding of test methodologies, software development life cycle (SDLC), and defect management tools.
  • Leadership: Experience guiding small teams and coordinating test efforts across multiple projects or workstreams.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled at identifying root causes of issues and suggesting pragmatic solutions.
  • Detail Orientation: Strong focus on test accuracy, data validation, and quality assurance.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast-paced, Agile environments with changing priorities.

Critical Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 12 years leading/coordinating a small test team.
  • Solid experience in manual testing, with exposure to automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Postman, SoapUI).
  • Proficient with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, HP ALM).
  • Experience testing retail, ERP, POS, CRM, or e-commerce systems is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend testing.
  • Understanding of API testing, integration points, and web/mobile testing considerations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps environments.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and microservices is a plus.
