COREPURPOSEOFJOB

The purpose of the post is to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in theoretical and practical modules as presented by the Nelson Mandela University Nursing Science Department at under- and post-graduate level, to participate in research, to contribute to the academic and community engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University.

KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS
|
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of nursing theory, education, and Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal nursing practices.
- Lead and participate in the facilitation of learning and teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of nursing curricula at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
- Engage in research activities that advance knowledge in Nursing and Midwifery science.
- Create and disseminate new knowledge through rigorous research and scholarly publications.
- Build a national reputation through collaboration, consultation, and policy involvement in the field of nursing.
- Supervise research students and contribute to faculty research projects, including interprofessional education initiatives.

CORECOMPETENCIES

- Proficient in applying various teaching methods tailored to both undergraduate and relevant postgraduate programs.
- Experience in facilitating learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Knowledge and understanding of research theories and their applications, specifically within Nursing and Midwifery Science.
- Knowledge in developing and implementing curricula at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Experience in co-supervising postgraduate research candidates, contributing to their academic development.
- Contribution to the creation and implementation of Short Learning Programs and other Continuing Development Programs.
- Participation in seminars and contributing to various research outputs.

REQUIREMENTS
|
Education
Masters degree in nursing science.
Registration with SANC as a registered nurse and midwife.
Registration with SANC for an additional qualification as a nurse educator.
Registration with SANC for an additional qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology. Registration with SANC as an assessor and moderator.

Experience and skills
Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in higher education or related nurse training institutions. Minimum of five (5) years relevant clinical work experience.
Evidence of postgraduate research supervision will be an advantage.
Previous experience in developing new learning and teaching material on a postgraduate level will be an added advantage.
