Job Title: Project Management Consultant

Location: South Africa, Gauteng, Gauteng (Remote working)

Job Type: 5 month contract, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties:

Project Schedule Development & Review

  • Develop, maintain, and review project schedules to assess logic, completeness, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Identify scheduling risks, float constraints, and critical path issues across multiple projects.
  • Recommend improvements and assist with schedule optimization or recovery planning.

Multi-Project Coordination

  • Provide project management support across several concurrent projects, adjusting to various scopes, teams, and phases.
  • Monitor key milestones and follow up with responsible parties to ensure progress.
  • Consolidate updates and generate summary reports for internal and client stakeholders.

Meeting Facilitation & Documentation

  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, including progress updates, risk workshops, and governance forums.
  • Prepare accurate and professional minutes of meetings, clearly documenting decisions, actions, and responsible individuals.
  • Track follow-up actions to ensure accountability and progress.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with client representatives, internal teams, and contractors to gather inputs and maintain alignment.
  • Communicate timelines, risks, and changes clearly to all relevant stakeholders.

Project Reporting & Governance Support

  • Prepare routine and ad hoc reports on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Support the implementation of project governance practices, including stage gate processes, change control, and risk management.
  • Assist in maintaining project registers such as risk logs, action trackers, and decision logs.

Administrative & Planning Support

  • Assist in the preparation of key project documents including project charters, stakeholder maps, and close-out reports.
  • Support planning teams by collecting inputs and maintaining alignment with schedule updates and project baselines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Built Environment or related field

Experience:

5 - 8 years of experience in project management consulting in the Mining Industry

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • MS Project experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience working on mining projects in South Africa
