Our client is seeking a Government Business Development Manager / Technical Salesperson with experience in getting manufactured products specified at the different levels of government. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical sales background and a proven ability to navigate complex public sector procurement processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within local, provincial, and national government departments.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, consultants, and procurement officials.

  • Present technical product solutions and provide expert advice to support specification and sales processes.

  • Drive product specification through tenders, RFPs, and direct engagement with government entities.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, production, and logistics to meet client needs.

  • Track and manage the sales pipeline and prepare regular forecasts and reports.

  • Stay up to date with government regulations, tender platforms, and industry trends.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement and tender processes.

  • Technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain product specifications.

  • Proven ability to close deals and meet sales targets.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  • Matric certificate with a relevant tertiary qualification in sales, business development, or engineering preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development or technical sales, preferably in the manufacturing sector.

  • Experience in getting manufactured products specified at different levels of government is essential.

  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
