Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join their team. You will oversees the Finance & Accounting function of the Group. Oversee Financial and Accounting system controls and standards used by the Group. Ensure timely provision of Group Financial and Statistical reports for management. Ensuring that all accounting functions are accurately and effectively fulfilled. This position is a work from home (remote) position, that requires the candidate to provide their own reliable internet connection (at their own cost) and electricity supply, even during load shedding.

Responsibilities:

  • Timeous completion of monthly Group Financial Reporting including management accounts: 

    • Dashboard report.

    • Variance report.

    • All individual group companies.

    • Our client's Group consolidation report.

    • Quarterly board reports.

  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Introducing rolling budgets to improve cash management.

  • Assessing, managing, and minimizing business and financial risk through introduction of monthly cash flow reports and weekly/daily cash flow forecasts. Financial responsibility for cash management. 

  • Analyzing complex financial data and industry trends through implementation of improved systems and processes. 

  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statements and Developing and implementing accounting policies.

  • Overseeing tax functions (submission and audit). 

  • Overseeing audit.

  • Debtors’ reconciliation.

  • Account’s receivables (overdue) payments terms & invoicing.

  • Review of credit notes.

  • Effective Management of credit limits.

  • Overcome underlying issues that cause overdue accounts.

  • Group cash management planning.

  • Management of trust account funds and movement to current account for trip expenditure. 

  • Processing/overseeing of weekly/monthly payments.

  • Maintaining compliance with laws and regulations, not limited to the list provided below: 

    • POPI or any similar law by which the subsidiaries might be governed by. 

    • WCA/COIDA.

    • Taxation.

    • Forex.

    • Company law etc.

  • Analyze and make recommendations on the impact of long-range growth initiatives. 

  • Assess projects based on discounted cashflow analysis and provide insights into the feasibility of these proposed projects.

  • Act as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations, or business deals thatour client off companies may enter from a financial perspective where required. 

  • Streamlining internal processes within the finance department with the aim of being digital through automating financial processes.

  • Recommending the optimal allocation of short term and long-term capital to deliver on the strategic goals of our client.

  • Devise strategies to maintain profitability.

  • Assist the client of companies with positioning the business with a cloud/digital strategy that is cost effective and suits the needs of the business.

  • Ensure automation of finance systems and processes, therefore must have a strong aptitude for information systems, data, and analytics, in conjunction with the Global Processes Manager.

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all key suppliers. 

  • Engaging with key suppliers and maintaining relationships and effective payment agreements. 

  • Engaging with key customers and maintaining relationships pertaining to their customer account. 

  • Manage key relationships with Banks, Auditors, etc.  

  • Act as business partner to other departments within our client's group of companies, providing insights into the financial data that impacts their departments and how they can influence the company’s financial performance and position. 

  • Timely, accurate and complete response to queries raised by colleagues within the group.

  • Communicate effectively and establish credibility throughout the group and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges. 

  • Championing staff initiatives that align with our client's values.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Finance or Accounting. 

  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager.

  • Experience within the financial sector as a Chartered Accountant.

  • Management reporting experience at Board Level.

  • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.

  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.

  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.

  • Knowledge of the Travel Industry.

  • Proficient user of finance software, such as SAGE Pastel Partner and other.

  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used. 

  • Member of a Professional Regulatory body.

  • Fluent English language skills (written and verbal). 

  • Quick turn-around times. ​​​​​​​
