CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
|
The purpose of this academic post is to create, develop and facilitate the acquisition of musical knowledge and skills by individuals in order that they can function effectively within the music profession and as productive members of the broader society.
|
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
- To teach a variety of woodwind instruments across several genres.
- To lead, rehearse and conduct student ensembles and/or bands and maintain a successful and dynamic ensemble and/or band programme.
- To conduct and publish research and/or produce appropriate performances and creative outputs.
- To perform academic duties and engage with the wider music community.
- To perform administrative duties.

CORE COMPETENCIES
|
- Demonstrable knowledge of woodwind pedagogies and the application of teaching the woodwind repertoire. Knowledge and skills that incorporate a variety of styles and genres will receive preference.
- Proven experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate level. Some experience at postgraduate level would be advantageous.
- Ability to contribute to the creation of knowledge and music performance or the potential to contribute through publications and/or appropriate creative outputs, and the ability to supervise postgraduate candidates.
- Proficiency in leading bands and/or ensembles.
- Demonstrable profile as a performer

REQUIREMENTS
|
To be considered for appointment to this post at lecturer level, the successful candidate should have a Master’s (MMus) degree with 2 years relevant experience after the qualification. A PhD will be advantageous and postgraduate supervision experience will be beneficial.
