CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

Safe and accurate operation of machinery and equipment within the Sport Field Maintenance and Preparation environment ensuring compliance to regulations, guidelines, health and safety standards and environmental requirements

Accountable for the basic maintenance of relevant machinery, tools and equipment

Thorough preparation of the sport facilities to ensure the optimal support of the programs, operations and events of Madibaz Sport.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

The key performance areas for this post are to implement all actions necessary for maintaining and preparing the outdoor sport facilities at the Nelson Mandela University Gqeberha Campuses for sporting and non-sporting activities and events, with specific attention to the following:

  • Effective operation of horticultural/ sport field maintenance machinery
  • Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of work sites
  • Application of various chemicals and fertilizers
  • Execute various event and project related duties and tasks
  • Compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements  
  • Responsibility of machinery, tools and equipment  
  • Compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements
  • Resource stewardship and sustainability

REQUIREMENTS

 

To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess a Grade 10 certificate plus valid machine and equipment maintenance and operational certificates for the variety of machines used around operations.

Further advantages will be the possession of herbicide application certifications and a valid First Aid level 1 certificate.

Candidates must also have a minimum of 6 months horticultural, sport field maintenance or agricultural machine operation experience
