Our Client is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Beef Feedlot Manager to oversee and manage their feedlot operations in Malawi.

The Feedlot Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of all aspects of the feedlot, from animal purchase and initial treatment to feed mixing, nutrition, and dispatch to slaughter. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of feedlot procedures, beef animal purchase criteria, animal health management, and feed mixing and nutrition. The Feedlot Manager will be expected to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintain high standards of animal welfare, and optimize the feedlot's performance.

 

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage all aspects of the beef feedlot operations.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various feedlot processes, including animal purchase, initial treatment, quarantine procedures, implantation, feed mixing, nutrition, and finishing.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices in animal welfare, health, and safety.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders.
Coordinate and oversee the purchase of beef animals, ensuring adherence to quality criteria and market demands.
Manage animal health programs, including vaccination schedules, disease prevention, and treatment protocols.
Implement and monitor implantation programs to enhance growth and feed efficiency.
Oversee feed mixing and nutrition plans, ensuring balanced diets and efficient feed conversion.
Monitor animal performance, growth rates, and health indicators, taking necessary corrective actions when needed.
Manage and supervise feedlot staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
Monitor and manage feedlot expenses, budgets, and financial performance.
Coordinate and oversee the dispatch of animals to slaughter, ensuring compliance with quality standards and market requirements.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to feedlot operations, animal health, and performance.

Animal health and mortality rates.
