* An M Tech / MSc in Wood Technology / Wood Science respectively, with a focus on sawmilling practice, with at least three years of relevant work experience in sawmilling practices (excluding work integrated learning).
* Demonstrated ability to conduct research in a cross-disciplinary context in wood technology or wood science.
* Leadership roles in relevant fields within the timber processing industry will be an added advantage.
* Evidence of engagement with industry stakeholders within the wider forestry and forest products community
